Rani Mukherjee-starrer Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway has received an objection from the Norwegian ambassador to India, Hans Jacob Freudenlund, stating that the case is fictitiously represented in the story.

Hans said via Twitter: “This misrepresents Norway’s belief in family life and our respect for different cultures. Children’s welfare is a matter of great responsibility, never influenced by payments or profits. Doesn’t happen. #Norwaycares.”

“As Norway’s ambassador to India, it is important for me to present Norway’s official point of view and correct the factual errors that have unfortunately been presented in the film. The case the film is inspired by happened a decade ago. was resolved with the cooperation of the Indian authorities and an agreement between all parties involved.

Producer Nikhil Advani revealed that he screened the ambassador privately to clear all confusion after which he advised him.

Nikhil shared a tweet that read: “Atithi Dev Bhava! India has a cultural mandate. Every Indian has been taught this by our elders. Last evening we hosted the Norwegian ambassador and volunteered to show him our film Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. After the screening, I quietly watched her admonish two strong women who have chosen to tell this very important story. I was silent because like Sagarika Chakraborty, they don’t need me to fight for them and ‘culturally’ we don’t insult our guests. As for the explanation. Video is attached.”

Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway released in theatres today; March 17, reports JEE News.
