The PTI chief requested the IHC to immediately restrain the authorities from “acting illegally and without the permission of this court before any law enforcement agency including the National Accountability Bureau in any matter or in inquiry or investigation” to prevent him from being illegally arrested.
Legal proceedings against Khan began after he was removed from the prime minister’s office in a parliamentary vote early last year. Since then, he has been calling for early elections and holding nationwide protests, and was shot and injured at one of his rallies in Wazirabad on November 3.
Current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has rejected Khan’s demands and said that the elections will be held later this year as per the schedule.
