ISLAMABAD: Amid the growing political crisis in the country, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has today called an emergency meeting of his allies in which the future course of action of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan will be considered.
The huddle was called after the prime minister’s meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.
Officials privy to the meeting said Maryam held a detailed meeting with the prime minister and discussed the party’s future strategy to deal with the PTI chairman.
Sources say that the two leaders had a detailed discussion on the recent events of Zaman Park and Imran Khan’s visit to Islamabad.
Apart from the political and economic situation of the country, they also discussed about providing relief to the citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
It was decided in the meeting that Shahbaz Sharif will call a meeting of the allied parties of the Muslim League (N) government and inform them about the situation.
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif will also participate through video link.
Sources say that the schedule of upcoming general elections will also be considered in the meeting and recommendations will be sought from the leadership of the coalition parties.
