The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday accepted the petition against the physical remand of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nephew Hassan Niazi and sent him to judicial remand.

A local court in Islamabad on Tuesday granted Niazi’s two-day physical remand after he was arrested outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on charges of “misbehavior with the police”.

Soon after the remand was granted by the Judicial Magistrate, PTI challenged the decision in the District and Sessions Court.

Islamabad court heard the case against Niazi today. Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas pronounced the reserved judgment after hearing the arguments.

During the hearing, Niazi’s lawyer Qaiser Imam said that all the sections included in the First Information Report (FIR) are bailable.

While defending his client, the lawyer questioned the allegations against Niazi and expressed doubts as to why he would try to run away despite allegedly having a weapon with a policeman.
