Earthquake tremors were felt in Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan, JEE News reported on Sunday.
Tremors of the earthquake were felt across the district, causing people to come out of their homes and offices in panic.
According to the Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the earthquake was 20 km southwest of Jhal Magsi. No immediate loss of life or property was reported as a result of the earthquake.
This earthquake has come a few days after a powerful earthquake shook many areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the capital Islamabad. At least nine people lost their lives, and more than 160 were injured in earthquake-related incidents.
Natural disasters such as earthquakes are not uncommon in Pakistan, as the country is located on the border of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Large parts of South Asia are seismically active as a tectonic plate known as the Indian Plate is pushing northward into the Eurasian Plate.
Recent earthquakes highlight the importance of disaster preparedness and mitigation measures.
