LAHORE: Members of the Jahangir Khan Tareen K (JKT) group have proposed to form a new political party named Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Nazriyati (PTIN) or Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaf to contest the upcoming general elections.
The proposal was made during an Iftar dinner hosted by Tareen, which was attended by several members of the JKT and PTI groups, including Raja Riaz and Aoon Chaudhry. Although the proposal has not been approved, the group plans to hold further talks and consider alliances with other political forces such as PMLN, PPP, and PMLQ. The JKT group is becoming increasingly active in politics and plans to approach more former PTI members and leaders to join their cause. The participants of the meeting expressed their dissatisfaction with Imran Khan’s policies and their desire to distance themselves from his politics. There will be further consultation and monitoring on domestic politics.
Jahangir Khan Tareen was once a close associate of former Prime Minister Imran Khan but he formed his own group in PTI. The author sent text messages to Jahangir Khan Tareen about the developments but received no response.
Raja Riaz, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, responded by saying that he was busy in the meeting. However, JKT Political Secretary Imran Shahid confirmed that the Iftar dinner has taken place.
When asked about his future political strategy, Shahid said that the group will inform the media when there is an update on the matter. Some other sources told JEE News on the request of anonymity that the majority of Jahangir Khan Tareen group members have decided to form an independent group or a party in the name of Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf instead of contesting the next election on PMLN ticket. Advised.
Sources said that the majority has supported the idea of contesting the election as an independent. He said that most of the members cited the example of July 2022 by-elections in which contesting on PMLN ticket proved to be harmful and most of the members lost the election. Apart from this, some members also said that PMLN already has ticket holders in many constituencies like Faisalabad, Lodhran and there is no possibility that Tareen group will get tickets there. He suggested that the wiser idea is to contest the election as an independent candidate or fight under the banner of a new party led by Jahangir Khan Tareen, the Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
However, some members suggested contesting on PMLN ticket as it is a party with strong roots in Punjab. Jahangir Tareen was empowered to take any decision in this regard.
