At least four policemen, including DSP Iqbal Mohmand, were killed in an early morning attack on a police check post in Lakki Marwat on Thursday.
At least six other officers were injured in the overnight gunfight.
Terrorists attacked the police post in Lakki Marwat on Thursday morning. Later, the police force exchanged fire with the terrorists. After the incident, the police started a search operation to find and arrest the terrorists.
The deceased include DSP Iqbal Mohmand, Karamat, Waqar and Ali Marjan. The injured include Head Constable Farooq Shah, Constable Amanatullah, Asghar, Sardar Ali and Arif. The injured have been shifted to a local hospital.
DSP Iqbal Mohmand, along with three gunmen, left the scene of the attack soon after the terrorists opened fire at the Sadar police station, the police spokesman said.
However, a roadside bomb near the police station exploded when his vehicle passed Pirwala Morr, a police spokesman said. DSP Iqbal Mohmand was martyred along with his gunners in the blast.
