ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said that he has presented the idea of a hybrid model to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) where Pakistan and India will play their matches at neutral venues. Will be able to play. .

Speaking to mediapersons in the federal capital, Sethi called for a rational approach to resolve the crisis that threatens the country’s successful hosting of the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup scheduled in India. .

“We have already floated the idea of a hybrid model to the ACC member states to allow India to play their matches at a neutral venue of their choice. When Pakistan face Pakistan in the October 2021 ODI World Cup. We will follow the same pattern when it comes to participation,” said Chairman PCB.

Najam Sethi said that the chances of the Pakistani team going to India for the ODI World Cup are low.

“In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, there are chances that the Pakistan government will not allow the green shirts to cross the border for their participation in the World Cup.

“In this case, cricket will suffer the most. There must be a middle ground to resolve the issues which will certainly threaten the smooth hosting of ICC (International Cricket Council) and ACC events. Cup “The government will not allow us to go to India to watch World Cup matches.”

He dispelled the impression that non-participation of the team in the ODI World Cup would cause financial loss to Pakistan.

PSL has hurt us financially and made us stronger. If there is any financial loss, it will be to both the boards,” he said.

Pakistan-Afghanistan series

Meanwhile, responding to a question about Pakistan’s defeat against a low-ranked Afghanistan team, Sethi said the selectors had fielded an A team for the series.

“The point is that we wanted to try out some youngsters because the media was very interested in creating opportunities for Pakistan Super League (PSL) performers,” he said.

Najam Sethi added that the two youngsters have cemented their place in the team while those who failed will have to work hard for the next opportunity. “Now the selectors have a better idea of the team composition for the series against New Zealand.”
