PPP has demanded talks with PTI as PML-N, JUI(F) have opposed move.

ISLAMABAD: The ruling coalition seems divided over talks with the opposition to end the ongoing political and economic crisis in the country as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) supports the idea while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). ) and Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F) have rejected any such move.

In a meeting of the PPP’s core committee on Friday, it was decided to approach all the parties in the coalition government to discuss the issue of talks between political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The committee was jointly chaired by former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The PPP’s apex decision-making body met to deal with the ongoing political crisis and emphasized that the issue arose due to various reasons, including the preference of the minority court’s decision over the majority court’s decision. is being given

Speaking after the meeting, PPP Secretary General Nayar Bukhari said that this stance is legally, morally and politically unacceptable and should be reviewed.

The party also emphasized the importance of resolving conflicting judicial decisions promptly and without undermining the dignity and prestige of the judiciary.

Further, in the interest of fair and free elections, the party demanded that general elections to all assemblies be held on the same day as provided for in the constitution and reiterated its opposition to any delay beyond the constitutional mandate date.

It is important that the two major political parties in the ruling coalition, Muslim League-N and JUI-F, have opposed talks with PTI.

On Friday, JUI(F) leader Asad Mehmood said in a statement that there will be no talks with Imran Khan and demanded to impose Article 6 on him.

Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has also rejected the idea of talks with PTI on several occasions.

Mushahid favours dialogue to end crisis

Meanwhile, PML-N Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed on Friday urged the government and PTI to stop fighting with the Supreme Court and the establishment respectively and set the rules of the game for the elections in time.

He was speaking on a call-to-action notice presented in the House by opposition and government lawmakers on India’s move to revise the Indus Water Treaty (IWT).

He strongly advocated dialogue between the ruling coalition and the opposition, saying that if talks can be offered to Modi and the terrorists, why not between them.

Mushahid insisted that Pakistan needs to put its house in order and show unity to counter India as the US is also supporting New Delhi to counter China in the region.

Referring to his recent visit to China, he said the time-tested friend’s message was that all political parties should transcend their party and personal affiliations and speak for the interest of Pakistan and its people.

He lamented that the ruling coalition has taken up confrontation with the Supreme Court while PTI is fighting the establishment.

He said that if he is offering talks to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, why are we not talking to each other?

He emphasized that he was also ready to talk to the terrorists and then remarked, “Let us talk to the opposition and other parties and set the rules of the game so that the elections are held on time.” And the constitution should be respected”.
