ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has formed a committee comprising senior party leaders to build consensus within the ruling coalition for talks among all political parties with a view to ending the deadlock. .
According to the notification issued by the party secretariat, the members of the committee include Senator Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar and Advisor to the Prime Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira.
The panel was formed in accordance with the decision of the core committee meeting of the People’s Party held last week, which said that closing the door to negotiations is not the solution to the problem.
Later, the delegation of People’s Party discussed with Jamhuri Watan Party (JWP) chief Shah Zain Bugti on the proposal to take a common stand on the issue of negotiations between the political parties including the opposition.
In the meeting, both the parties emphasized mutual consultation and negotiations between the political parties to deal with the constitutional and political crisis.

Speaking to the media after meeting with Bugti, former Prime Minister Gilani said that political tension can be reduced only through political negotiations between political leaders.
“We have consulted the JWP leadership and will continue to hold talks with other political leaders in the coming days to defuse political tension,” the PPP leader said, adding that in a democracy Dialogue is the only way forward.
Welcoming the initiative of PPP, Bugti said that he will consult with other Baloch leaders in Quetta and convene another meeting in the next two days.
