ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday congratulated Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Army Chief General Asim Munir on the success of getting deposits from friendly countries for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

Addressing a meeting of alliance partners here, Shahbaz Sharif said that the International Monetary Fund agreement is in its final stage and its final condition is to ensure financial commitments from friendly countries. He appreciated the efforts of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Army Chief General Asim Munir for the success of this process. On the completion of one year of the coalition government, the Prime Minister said that even the coalition partners do not expect to achieve success and show unity. He said that due to sincerity and commitment to the country, the coalition parties showed unprecedented unity in the first year of their government and removed the disappointment of the opposition parties.

He said that all the coalition parties showed their democratic spirit and played a constructive role to maintain the unity and bring the country out of challenges. He said that despite differences from time to time on some issues, the coalition parties remained united to face the challenges inherited from the previous government. He emphasized that in a democracy, decisions are made through consultation and not imposed. After the Prime Minister’s comments, the leaders of the coalition parties thanked him and expressed confidence in his leadership.

Talking about the ongoing controversy regarding the court decision related to the general elections in Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif said that no court in the world has stopped the implementation of the law before its implementation.

Shahbaz Sharif also informed the participants about the telephonic conversation with the new Premier of China Li Qiang in the last week of April in which they will discuss issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, despite strong opposition from JUIF in the coalition government meeting, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari insisted on talks with the opposition and said that there is a need to take the path of talks to end the crisis. .

A meeting of alliance partners comprising 13 political parties in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was held in Islamabad when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a meeting on the country’s political situation and JI’s negotiation efforts.

During the meeting, there was a difference between the parties in the coalition government on the negotiations with the opposition party. Some believed that PTI chairman Imran Khan could not be trusted, while others insisted that political forces should not close channels for dialogue.

Sources familiar with the meeting told JEE News that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari insisted that there is a need for dialogue. Sources say that MQM Pakistan, BNP, Khalid Magsi, Chaudhry Salik, Mohsin Dawar and others supported Bilawal’s stand.

According to sources, JUIF emphasized that Imran Khan is not a political force and strongly opposes talks with PTI. On the other hand, JWP chief Shah Zain Bugti said that he is not against talks but Imran Khan is not trustworthy.

According to the sources, the People’s Party expressed serious concerns over JUIF’s stance of opposing the national talks.

Bilawal said that closing the door to negotiations is against the principles of his party and undemocratic. Against this backdrop, the meeting of government allies ended without any consensus on holding talks.
