Pak vs New Zealand: Greenshirts clinch their 500th ODI win.

Rawalpindi: Pakistan registered their 500th One-Day International (ODI) win by defeating New Zealand by five wickets at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

The Man in Green has become the third team in the world to achieve this feat. The Green Shirts achieved this milestone after playing 949 50-over matches.

Pakistan has won 92 ODIs against Sri Lanka, 73 against India, 63 against West Indies, 57 against New Zealand, 54 against Zimbabwe, 34 against Australia, and 32 and 32 against England and Bangladesh.

Apart from Pakistan, Australia have won 594 50-over matches in 978 fixtures, while India have won 539 matches in 1,029 fixtures.

Babar Azam’s feat

Pakistan captain Babar – the world’s top ODI batsman – also achieved another international feat during the fixture when he completed his 12,000 runs in international cricket.

He played 277 innings to achieve this feat as the fastest Pakistani and second fastest Asian batsman. In the world, he is the sixth to achieve this feat.

Sir Vivian Richards was the fastest batsman to score 12000 runs in international cricket. He achieved this milestone in 255 innings.

Earlier, Babar was the fastest Asian player to score 10,000 and then 11,000 runs in international cricket.

Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah broke the world record of taking most wickets after the first six ODIs of his career.

This record was previously held by Matt Henry of New Zealand who took 19 wickets in six matches.

Shah recorded impressive figures of 2-29 in 10 overs as New Zealand set Pakistan a target of 289 runs.
