Diesel is widely used in the transport and agriculture sectors. A reduction in its price can reduce the impact of inflation and provide relief to farmers as the harvest season has begun.
Consumers are already facing higher prices, especially the lower-income segment, who own motorcycles and small cars.
In view of the increase in the price of petroleum in the international market and the change in the exchange rate, the federal government has increased the price of petrol by 10 rupees and the price of kerosene by 5 rupees 78 paisa in its last fortnightly announcement.
Earlier, oil marketing companies (OMC) sources told JEE News that petrol price is likely to decrease by Rs 4.5 per liter while diesel price is likely to decrease by Rs 6 per litre.
