Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army on Monday termed the allegations made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against a senior military official as highly irresponsible and baseless and said that he should not make such false statements. Close.

“Chairman PTI has made highly irresponsible and baseless allegations against a serving senior military officer without any evidence,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The media wing of the Pakistan Army said that the fabricated and malicious allegations are extremely regrettable, deplorable and unacceptable. This has been a consistent pattern over the past year in which military and intelligence agency personnel have been targeted through incitement and sensationalist propaganda to achieve political ends.

ISPR also advised Imran Khan to take legal route and refrain from making false allegations. “We request the political leaders concerned to take legal action and stop making false allegations,” the ISPR statement said.

It clarified that the organization expressly reserves the right to take legal action against false and misleading statements and propaganda. Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the PTI Chairman’s statement and said that “Imran Niazi’s act of routinely defaming and threatening the Pakistan Army and Intelligence Agency for political gain.” It is highly condemnable. His allegations against General Faisal Naseer and our intelligence agency officers cannot be allowed and will not be tolerated.

Former President and Co-Chairman of People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari said in his statement that one person has crossed all limits of defaming institutions, which will not be tolerated anymore. The attempt to defame the institutions has exposed the true face of the human being. After listening to the speech of a foreign agent, no patriot would think of following him.

Zardari said that the allegations against the brave and eminent officers of the Pakistan Army are actually an attack on the institution with which the whole of Pakistan stands. He said that a person is fooling his innocent workers with lies and deceit, I see the downfall of this person.

The former president said that this is the country where we all have to be buried, we will not allow one person to play with our values and country. “One person is bent on destroying our ancestors, our children and our country, which we will not allow,” he said.
