Punjab to form JIT to probe attack on Corps Commander House

The Punjab government has decided to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the vandalism and violent protests in the province following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday.

The government also aims to track down the miscreants who took part in the violence across the province since Khan’s detention on May 9.

The JIT will investigate the Jinnah House fire and attacks as well as civil and military installations and submit a comprehensive report to the government.

After the PTI Chairman was detained, violent protesters across the country attacked sensitive national institutions, buildings, Jinnah House, the home of the Lahore Corps Commander, to demand his release. of, of arson, of obstructing national security. broadcast, blocked the Swat Motorway, torched Radio Pakistan and other government and private buildings, and tortured government officials and civilians, and even set fire to ambulances.

Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, during a meeting held with his cabinet in the caretaker administration to review the law and order situation in the province, ordered to speed up the action against the criminals found involved in violence.

Naqvi said that geo-fencing will be done in all the damaged areas.

The provincial chief minister further said that all cases against miscreants will be tried in the anti-terrorism court.

He said that no guilty person will be spared and no innocent person will be arrested.

Interim CM Naqvi asserted that all troublemakers will be brought to justice with evidence. Elements attacking civilian and military property will not escape severe punishment. A zero tolerance policy has been adopted against miscreants.

He further said that the law and order situation in Punjab is improving and the government will ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.

“The entire force is on alert to thwart the nefarious intentions of the criminals,” he said, vowing to crush the violent elements of the provincial administration.

Section 144 imposed

The Punjab government also extended Section 144 in the province by four days, a notification issued late on Friday said.

The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification, which states that ‘all kinds of meetings, gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, processions and protests are prohibited within the limits of the Punjab province.’
