ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister and Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that there will be no talks with PTI until its leaders apologize for setting fire to Jinnah House.
Addressing a joint session of Parliament, he said that the unprecedented incidents of May 9, including the attack on GHQ and Jinnah House, were deplorable.
The problem of the country is not that Imran Khan used the washroom or not but that the nation is going through difficult economic conditions. They don’t care who is the prime minister but who helps to solve their problems. This is the last chance for PTI to decide whether it wants to become a political party or not, Bilawal said.
He urged the institutions to work within their constitutional scope so that the government can focus on solving the problems of the poor people.
In 1986, despite the then President General Ziaul Haq being in power, more than three million people gave a warm welcome to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Benazir Bhutto did not use this opportunity to incite violence against Zia. PPP faced various incidents over the years but refrained from resorting to violence.
Bilawal said that the People’s Party did not oppose the elections, because they believed that Imran Khan could be challenged through fair elections, and the ruling coalition would face him and defeat him.
He said that the candidates of the present coalition government have already defeated the PTI chief and his candidates in several by-elections.
He said that history will always remember that when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was martyred, Jayale of People’s Party set himself on fire while protesting but did not damage the property of the state.
Bilawal Bhutto said that he shouldered the coffin of martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto for the sake of the country and democracy.
The slogans raised on that day met President Zardari’s pledge of ‘Pakistan Khape’. “Democracy is the best revenge” I chanted after burying my mother. We can lead the people to Pervez Musharraf, the murderer of the people. If Asif Ali Zardari had not raised the slogan of unity, we would have taken revenge, could Pakistan have survived? Will we sit in this assembly today?
Today, Imran Khan is criticizing the same NAB which he once loved. If anyone from our side had been involved in such a case, we would have been behind bars without a second thought.
He said that history will remember that our Chief Justice reacted by saying ‘good to see’ instead of condemning those who attacked Jinnah House and GHQ and taking action on his own.
Speaking in the House, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the incidents of undue support to PTI Chairman Imran Khan by a group of the Supreme Judicial Council (PTI). Demanded to send a reference to the Supreme Judicial Council. SJC) under Article 209 of the Constitution.
He said that now is the time for Parliament to assert its supremacy and play a constitutional role when a group (Jatha) in the Supreme Court is on the back of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) accused and a political group.
He lamented that the Judiciary also changed the structure of the Constitution by rewriting 63-A to benefit a specific person while 3-time elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was impeached in 2017 for taking salary only from his son.
Khawaja Asif also referred to an example from Islamic history when a judge saw Hazrat Umar Farooq RA and stood up to pay homage to him and on seeing this gesture, he de-notified him. He said that in our country the Chief Justice is welcoming an accused of NAB by saying that it is good to see you.
When I raised this issue, the business tycoon called me and said leave Khawaja Sahib, what are you doing?
He said that Imran Khan could have investigated the case even during his government but he did not because he knew that it was a fake case.
Now he (PTI leader) was talking about sanctity of home. Why did they not protect the sanctity of the homes of Maryam Nawaz, Faryal Talpur and other women in their government?
He said that the court decision was leaked through Tariq Rahim’s video, adding that it was a mockery of the justice system. A day ago, the paper was leaked which humiliated the justice system.
He said that Parliament should use its powers under the Constitution and take action against injustice, all this action was aimed at preventing Justice Qazi Faiz Isa from becoming the Chief Justice in September.
Prime Minister Nazir Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Akhtar Mengal, Raja Riaz and other party leaders also spoke on this occasion.
The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a motion to constitute a special committee to file a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against the Chief Justice of Pakistan and other judges for misconduct and defection. It was demanded to form a committee.
The motion calls for the formation of a special committee under Article 209 of the Constitution against a judge of the Supreme Court on the basis of misconduct and other available facts.
The motion moved by Dr. Shazia Subia was approved by the House. The members included Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Khurshid Junejo, Shahnaz Baloch, Salahuddin and Salahuddin Ayubi.
The APP added: The legislators strongly condemned the attacks on Jinnah House and Radio Pakistan Peshawar building by PTI workers and activists, besides damaging public and private properties in different parts of the country and demanded Should Imran Khan be prosecuted under the Army Act?
He said that PTI has taken the whole country hostage by creating chaos and chaos and does not deserve any concession.
Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz Ahmed termed Imran Khan as ‘fitnah’. He demanded that a case be registered against Fitna Khan under the Army Act.
He urged the chair to adjourn the proceedings of the House for 10 minutes or the national anthem should be played several times to express solidarity with the armed forces and Pakistan.
MQMP’s Salahuddin said anti-state elements do not deserve any concession and those who attack and damage government and private property should be prosecuted under the Army Act.
He demanded strict action against ‘Fitna Khan’ and his supporters after registering cases against him.
JUI-F’s Salahuddin Ayubi demanded the government to declare PTI as a terrorist organization and ban it. Abdul Qadir Mandukhel of People’s Party said that Imran Khan should be nominated in the attack on Jinnah House.
