After proving his mettle in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), fast bowler Zaman Khan has made his way into English county cricket as Derbyshire County Cricket Club roped him into the T20 Vitality Blast this summer.

With a top bowling speed of 90MPH, the young fast bowler took 59 wickets in 49 T20 matches at an average of 23.35 and best figures of 4-16. He also made his international debut in the away series against Afghanistan in March this year and has played six T20Is so far, bowling at an impressive economy rate of 6.66.

As for his PSL career, the right-armer was part of Lahore Qalandars both times they claimed the trophy. Moreover, he was also in the winning squad Jaffna Kings in the latest edition of the Lanka Premier League.

An official statement from Derbyshire said Khan will join the squad for the county before the end of May.

Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket Mickey Arthur also praised the talented young pacer.

“Zaman Khan is one of the brightest young fast bowlers in Pakistan and he brings the experience of T20 success around the world to our dressing room which will help us reach our goals,” Arthur said.

He added, “He recently made his debut in one of the best international white-ball attacks and looked right at home, so it’s incredibly exciting to welcome him into our T20 campaign. “

Meanwhile, Zaman is also looking forward to playing in England under Arthur’s tutelage.

“Playing in England is something I wanted to experience and working with Mickey Arthur in Derbyshire is a dream come true,” said Zaman.

“Derbyshire have been impressive in T20 cricket over the last few years, so I’m looking forward to playing with that squad and seeing if we can challenge again this summer,” he added.
