ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan has supported the authorities’ decision to prosecute the May 9 rioters under the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.
He said that “whatever the authorities decide […] if the trial can be conducted legally under the Army Act, it should be.” And those responsible should be punished accordingly.” When asked if the accused should be tried under these laws.
The PTI leader demanded the formation of a judicial commission to probe the attacks, saying that even if the perpetrators were from his own party, they should be punished.
He said that he condemned the incidents that took place after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in which government property was damaged, adding that he condemned the attacks on two important military installations, GHQ and Lahore Corps Commander House. strongly condemn.
The Taxila-based politician dismissed reports that he was planning to quit the party. He said PTI is his second home and he owns it, not going anywhere after leaving.
He said that there is no truth in the claim that PTI’s long march was aimed at stopping the appointment of the Army Chief. He said that it is only a movement with a one-point agenda.
On the resignations of PTI MNAs from the National Assembly and the dissolution of the Provincial Assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to achieve their goals, Sarwar said that the plan they had made was right but even after the order of the Supreme Court. It could not be implemented. He said that this is a serious violation of the constitution.
