LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has claimed that the government wants to “bump” him because he was afraid of losing the election and in the same vein, insisted that there is an 80 percent chance of his arrest in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During an interview, the former prime minister said his life was still in danger and recalled the assassination attempt on him last year. “I predicted that a religious fanatic would be used to kill me like our governor was killed.”
PTI Chairman Imran Khan also claimed that there is an 80% chance of his arrest in Islamabad on Tuesday. “On Tuesday, I have to appear in Islamabad for bail and there is an 80 percent chance of my arrest.” “Everything is being done to destroy our democracy. So now more than 10,000 activists have been arrested and my entire senior leadership is in jail.
On his social media account, Imran termed as “totally false” rumors that he had removed Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir as DGISI in 2019 because the then spy Bushra wanted to investigate corruption cases related to Bibi. This was denied after a news item was published in the foreign media.
According to JEE News, “It was as head of the ISI that he (Asim Munir) first clashed with Imran Khan, who was then Prime Minister. General Munir reportedly informed Khan that He wants to investigate allegations of corruption surrounding his wife and her entourage. Then, in June 2019, he was removed from his post just eight months into what was meant to be a three-year term.
In a tweet, Imran said: “This is a total lie. Neither General Asim showed me any evidence of his wife’s corruption nor did I ask him to resign.
He also alleged that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was colluding with the army and “destroying the democratic system to keep me out”. “The way they have used the pretext of arson […] they have used the reaction after my arrest to destroy the party,” he said. Now they are trying to try us in military courts.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan led by Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani visited Zaman Park and met Imran Khan. The JUP delegation condemned the arrest and targeting of political activists and expressed deep concern over the blatant violation of the Constitution by the government.
