LAHORE: Police told JEE News that Khadija Shah, the prime suspect in the attack on the Lahore Corps Commander House, will be produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) today.
Khadija Shah was shifted to the women’s police station after her arrest on Tuesday. Sources, familiar with the case, shared that the fashion designer will be investigated by Superintendent of Police (SP) Anush Masood.
A day ago, Punjab Police confirmed her arrest.
Despite the arrest of her husband and other family members, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter has not surrendered to the authorities even after claiming that she would present herself before them.
The Corps Commander House or Jinnah House was attacked on May 9 when the PTI stormed and burnt it after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in the £190 million settlement case.
In the 16-minute-long audio message released on Sunday, Shah admitted that she was a PTI supporter and was part of the protest outside the Lahore Corps Commander House but denied any wrongdoing, including inciting people to violence. Refused to commit.
Shah is the daughter of Dr. Salman Shah, who was a member of former President Pervez Musharraf’s finance team and was also an adviser to the Punjab government during Usman Buzdar’s regime.
She is also the granddaughter of a former army chief.
Her arrest came after reports revealed how efforts to get relief for the famous fashion designer had failed miserably. She escaped when the police raided her residence and has been on the run ever since.
Interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced last week that the women involved in the attacks on military installations on May 9 will be arrested at all costs.
The army and the federal government have also expressed their determination that all miscreants involved in attacks on military installations will be prosecuted under the Pakistan Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.
Following the attacks, thousands of PTI activists have been arrested across the country, with several leaders even quitting the party over the May 9 disaster.
‘Very tough’
In her voice note released on Sunday, Khadija Shah said she was going to surrender to the police and admit her mistake.
Shah admitted that she had made “inappropriate” tweets against the military leadership in anger and emotion, but they have now been deleted.
“I am going to hand over to the police. I have taken this decision because the last five days have been very difficult for me,” She said.
“They (authorities) entered my house in the middle of the night and kidnapped my husband and father. They harassed my husband in front of our children… My domestic workers were also tortured,” she said.
The PTI supporter added that she had not violated any law or the country’s constitution, adding that she had participated in many PTI protests over the past one year.
She also revealed that she has dual citizenship and is trying to get help from the embassy, but did not elaborate.
