ISLAMABAD: PTI Secretary General Asad Umar also resigned from party posts on Wednesday after the resignation of top leaders while Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry announced his separation from Imran Khan, giving a big boost to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
His announcement came a day after Dr Shireen Mazari and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan resigned from the party.
Asad Umar announced the verdict at a press conference here hours after his release from Adiala Jail on the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). “Given the current situation […] after May 9, it is not possible for me personally to continue as the general secretary of the party. I am not leaving the party but will no longer be part of the core committee. I resigning as PTI’s General Secretary and Core Committee member. “Another reason is that I want to speak openly about what needs to be done… But when you are in leadership positions. However, it is not for you to give your individual opinion. Therefore, I am resigning from these positions of the party.
Earlier in the day, the court had directed the PTI leader to submit an affidavit that he would not be part of violent protests after his release. He was arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). Asad, along with other PTI leaders, was arrested on May 9 hours after violent riots erupted across the country following the arrest of Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case. Annulling Asad’s arrest, IHC judge Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb told the PTI leader to “forget” his political career if he defected. The court also directed him to delete two tweets. Asad Umar said that the scenes witnessed on May 9 are not only reprehensible but also reflect why such a situation arose. “And the message being sent out of the country was also worrying,” he maintained.
However, before announcing his resignation from party posts, the PTI leader highlighted the importance of the military to the country and said that the strength of the armed forces was not only reflected in its weapons but also in the nation’s support for it. Is. He said that if we did not have a strong army like ours, we would have seen the same fate in Syria. Umar claimed that as per his knowledge thousands of workers are currently under arrest. “And obviously most of them are innocent. So it is important to release them as soon as possible. I believe there should be a transparent investigation into the events of May 9. And those responsible should face action,” He emphasized. Asad said he was arrested on May 10 and had been in solitary confinement since then. “All the people have condemned the events that took place on May 9. I want to go into details because these events are dangerous for the country. The army is not the name of two or three generals but it is about these millions of young men,” he said. consists of those who have put their lives on the line to protect us. Similarly, PTI’s SVP Fawad Chaudhry announced his farewell to the party on Twitter. He joined PTI in June 2016. In my earlier statement where I clearly condemned the events of May 9, I have decided to stay away from politics. Therefore, I have resigned from the party post and parting ways with Imran Khan. From 2008 to 24 May 2023 Fawad separated from four political parties All Pakistan Muslim League, PPP, Muslim League Q and PTI. According to his tweet, he had no immediate plans to join any other party and wanted a break from his political innings.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Jamshed Iqbal Cheema’s family has claimed that he and his wife Musrat Jamshed Cheema are still with Imran Khan. According to the Cheema family, the couple has been detained and is not allowed to see each other. Family members said that Jamshed Cheema has not issued any statement regarding leaving PTI. On the other hand, PTI Additional Secretary General Umar Ayub wrote on his Twitter account that “my 7 innocent staff members kidnapped by Islamabad Police Shalimar Police Station (as seen on police mobile) yesterday at 10 pm. are missing from while armed with heavy weapons. Islamabad police searched my house illegally without a search warrant!! If the Islamabad police has declared kidnapping for ransom, then the courts should release all the criminals. When innocent citizens are abducted by a rogue police force and held in illegal detention, it means that there is no ‘rule of law’. Will the judiciary take notice? Shame on PDM government members – just remember it is never too late to turn the wheel”.
Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Farrukh Habib claimed that the telecom sector had been ordered to shut down the internet in Zaman Park. “Telecom sector has received orders to shut down data services internet within 5 km radius of Zaman Park Lahore,” Farrukh Habib said.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Murad Saeed has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan that a plan is being made to kill him, the responsibility of which will fall on the party leadership. He has requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure the protection of fundamental constitutional rights. In this regard, PTI’s disgruntled leader Jahangir Tareen has set up his camp in Lahore. Sources say Tareen met 20 key politicians in a week, raising suspicions that a forward bloc could form in the PTI. Tareen held PTI Chairman Imran Khan and party leaders responsible for the Jinnah House attack. The former PTI leader visited Jinnah House where he spoke to the media and condemned the attack. Tareen said that he had an opportunity to visit Jinnah House and was saddened to see how the place had been vandalized.
Meanwhile, former PTI leader Usman Khan Tarakai joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) along with his family and friends. He officially announced this in a news conference. People’s Party Leader and Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation Faisal Karim Kundi, People’s Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Muhammad Ali Bacha and People’s Party Media Coordinator Nazir Domki were also with him.
After joining the People’s Party, Usman Khan Tarakai met the Chairman People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Bilawal welcomed Usman Khan Tarakai for joining the People’s Party. Tarakai, who left PTI a few days ago, invited the chairman of the People’s Party to address a rally in Swabi, which was accepted.
Speaking at the press conference earlier, Faisal Karim Kundi said that on behalf of former President People’s Party Parliamentarians President Asif Ali Zardari, People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other leaders, he invited Turkey to join the People’s Party. But welcome. People’s Party is like a family. Tarakai will be honored here,” he said.
Kundi said that Bilawal, while addressing a rally in Azad Kashmir’s Bagh, spoke against India for illegally holding the G20 conference in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Kundi said that those involved in the May 9 incidents should be severely punished. He said that the People’s Party never raised its voice against the state or attacked the state property. He said that Imran Khan’s journey which started with American conspiracy ended with American slavery and this whole game was done to please America.
He said that the solution to every problem is dialogue. He said that instead of the American Congress, talk to the people of Pakistan.
He said that Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said in his press conference that Imran Khan incited his workers against the army and Chauhan’s press conference was a charge sheet against him. He said that ‘Imran Khan is only concerned about himself and his wife… Imran Khan made fun of other people’s illness but walked around with a cast on his leg’.
