WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging app, is working on a new settings page that includes three new shortcuts, WABetainfo reported on Friday.

The under-development feature — which will allow users to have a better experience navigating through the app settings — will be available to users in a future update of the app.

The preview, shared by WABetainfo, showed that the improved interface offers three new shortcuts: Profile, Privacy, and Contacts.

“WhatsApp plans to introduce the starred message shortcut – already available on WhatsApp for iOS – within the app’s settings,” reported WhatsApp News Tracker.

WhatsApp will rearrange the settings section to make accessing the options easier. “It is worth noting that WhatsApp also plans to introduce a new shortcut in the chat list to quickly open the app settings.”

Users will be able to experiment with the new App Settings interface when this shortcut is enabled in the future.

WABetainfo also reported that instant messaging app WhatsApp is working on a feature to configure username.

“WhatsApp is working on a username feature, which will allow users to choose unique usernames for their accounts,” the news tracker said, adding that the feature is currently under development and yet to be released. Not visible.

With the ability to choose a username, WhatsApp users will have the opportunity to add another layer of privacy to their accounts.

“This means that instead of relying solely on phone numbers to identify contacts, users will be able to choose a unique and memorable username: by allowing users to choose usernames, WhatsApp users “Can offer the ability to reach other people by entering a name. The app, without knowing their phone numbers,” said WABetainfo.

Although the feature is still in development, it is hoped that it could allow users to communicate privately with businesses, thus protecting their phone numbers, or perhaps theirs. Usage will become even more extensive allowing private communication with any user.
