A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Japan’s Chiba Prefecture at 7:03 p.m. on Friday, sending shockwaves to nearby areas including Tokyo, JEE News reported.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake was felt at a depth of 50 kilometers east of Chiba.
Officials say there is no tsunami warning.
The country’s nuclear authority said nothing unusual was detected at nuclear plants around the region.

Friday’s earthquake in Japan comes just three weeks after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ishikawa Prefecture, killing one person and injuring several others.
The earthquake had a depth of 12 km and struck the northern tip of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, off the coast of Japan.
Local police in the city of Suzhou, Ishikawa Prefecture — near the epicenter — have reportedly damaged many buildings and are taking patients with earthquake-related injuries to hospitals, JEE reports.
It reported: “One person who fell from a ladder was unresponsive. The Suzhou Fire Department noted that three houses had collapsed and two people were trapped in two structures.”
