Iga Swiatek, the defending champion, had a shaky start but managed to advance to the second round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Kristina Boksa.

She won 6-4, 6-0 and is now aiming to become the first woman since 2007 to successfully defend the title at Roland Garros.

Svitek, currently world number one, is aware that she could lose her top ranking to Aryna Sabalenka or Elina Rybakina at the tournament. She has good court sense and is focused on the future. In their previous meeting at the Australian Open, Svetek lost just one game to Boksa.

During the first set, Switek struggled to find his rhythm, suffering five breaks of serve. However, once she took the first set, she dominated the second set and defeated world number 70 Boksa in just 22 minutes. She will next face Yelena in Albon or Claire Liu.

Switek’s achievement is unique among active players, as she is the only woman currently playing a full schedule to win three Grand Slam singles titles. Many talented players, including Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, and Ashley Barty, are currently not participating due to various reasons such as retirement, pregnancy, or other commitments.

With her recent victories, Swiatek has emerged as a dominant figure in women’s tennis. He has won three of his last 11 Grand Slam events and is considered the favorite to win a fourth at Roland Garros. Swiatek, who was born in the 2000s, is one of only three women of her generation to have won the major honor.

At just 22 years old, Swiatek has already achieved notable milestones in her career. He won all seven ITF finals at the start of his professional career, including the Wimbledon junior event at the age of 17 as an unseeded player. In her first year on the HLogic WTA Tour, she reached and finished in the fourth round at Roland Garros. The year is ranked 61st.

In 2020, he won his first French Open title as an unseeded teenager. She will also be seen in Part 2 of Netflix’s “Breakpoint.”
