Lily-Rose Depp has revealed that her role in The Idol is not based on Britney Spears’ life, despite speculation.

The actor-model spoke to Extra about the comparisons drawn between her character in the candid drama and the Oops!…I Did It Again singer.

“No, it’s not based on anyone in particular… We’re definitely not trying to tell someone else’s story, but definitely make our own story,” Johnny Depp’s daughter said.

“It’s a fictional character and a fictional story,” added the Yoga Hosers star, before shedding light on the real-life inspiration behind the character.

Lily Rose said, “There were a lot of different people that I was inspired by for the role. Some who were pop stars, some who weren’t.”

“I wanted Jocelyn to simultaneously feel like a modern-day pop queen but also like someone who exists in her own world and in her own time, so I… Jane Tierney and Sharon Very inspired by actresses like. Pathar and women like her who I find really inspiring,” she added.

He criticized critics of the drama for being “too graphic” as he emphasized the fact that such scenes in the show added to the “rawness” of his character.

“I think the guts of all the scenes was something that added to the character’s vulnerability,” said Lily Rose. “With my desire to go out there and explore the role to the best of my ability.”

Reflecting on what her upcoming shows reflect about the industry, she noted, “The way we idolize people today. And the way we almost convince ourselves. are that we know them…”

“We build them up to these god-like levels and then we kind of enjoy taking them down. I think there’s a big conversation around that in the show.
