Lahore: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized that the government is using all its energies to bring the economy back on track and should take the country forward without indulging in the blame game.

“Everyone is aware of the situation. All sections of the society have to join hands to pull themselves out of this difficult situation.

Dar spoke in a meeting with officials of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday. Lahore Chamber President Kashif Anwar presented budget proposals to the Minister.

The finance minister announced that the upcoming federal budget will be business friendly, adding that the IMF program is taking time but all formalities for the ninth review have been completed.

He pointed out that a few months ago it was being said that Pakistan was going to default but it was averted. Similarly, he said, the country faced sanctions in 1999 but those too were dealt with. Stating that the LCCI was playing a vital role in economic well-being, Dar announced that the chamber’s proposals would be made part of the budget document.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President emphasized that the government should take measures like trade in local currency and barter trade to reduce the current foreign exchange crisis.
