Rawalpindi: Two soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces post in Sangwan area of Balochistan, located along the country’s border with Iran, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan Army said on Thursday.
The army’s media wing said in a statement that a group of terrorists targeted a post of security forces but the brave jawans responded quickly and pushed the terrorists back.
“Since the soldiers at the post were already alert and responded bravely with all available weapons, a fierce exchange of fire ensued,” the statement said.
Sepoy Hasnain Ishtiaq, 34, and Sepoy Inayatullah, 27, were martyred while fighting bravely.
Providing details about the martyred soldiers, ISPR said that Sepoy Ishtiaq was a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan district while Sepoy Inayat was a resident of Jhal Magsi district.
It said that a clean-up operation was launched in the area immediately after the attack, while Iranian authorities were also contacted to prevent the terrorists from escaping.
“The security forces, along with the nation, are determined to thwart attempts to sabotage peace and stability across all borders in Balochistan,” the ISPR added.
A day before this, two terrorists were killed in an operation by security forces in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ISPR said that the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation today in the general area of Dosali after receiving a tip-off about the presence of terrorists.
ISPR said that during the operation, there was a fierce exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists, as a result of which two terrorists were killed. It was further said that arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the terrorists.
The army’s media wing added that terrorists were “actively” involved in activities against “security forces and killing of innocent civilians”.
The area is being cleaned to eliminate the terrorists found in the area.
It also said that “the local people of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to end the menace of terrorism”.
