Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan has said that the new DC universe had minimal influence on the film.

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker said, “I had to make adjustments the whole way through. The DCU has gone through so many different versions, and one of the things that was challenging about this film was the track. What is happening,” he said.

“Fortunately, the Aquaman universe is pretty far removed from the rest of the world. We’re going to a lot of different underwater states that aren’t necessarily what’s going on with other movies and characters, so we’re alone in that. Respect. “

“So I can tell my own story without being too influenced, but at the same time, I have to be aware of what’s going on,” he added.

The 46-year-old said that the film will present a different tone and a more mature message to the audience.

“Fortunately, the Aquaman universe is pretty far removed from the rest of the world,” he continued. “It’s a little bit more serious, and we’re dealing with issues like climate change.”

“We’re not afraid to lean into it in a big way, because the Aquaman comic book, even when, has always been environmentally conscious. He’s always been someone who fought to keep the ocean clean. , and it feels more relevant in this. The world we live in today. So there’s something to talk about with this movie, but it’s still a fun fantasy movie.”
