LAHORE: In view of the ongoing exodus of leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after the May 9 tragedy, Chaudhry Shujaat’s elder son Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Saturday made it clear that there is no room for Parvez Elahi in the party. . Speaking to reporters outside the Corps Commander’s House (Jinah House) in Lahore – which came under attack by PTI supporters last month – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) leader Shafay said, “If If Pervez Elahi wants to come as a family [member], he would be most welcome but politically it would be better for him to form his own party.
“The miscreants burnt everything in Jinnah House,” the PMLQ leader said, adding that those involved in the house fire should be punished. Khan’s arrest earlier this month sparked days of street protests that led to the exodus of PTI leaders, following attacks on civil and military institutions, including the general headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House. Security forces launched a crackdown on the party. At least eight people were killed in violent protests in the country. Shafay was of the view that PTI was behind attacks on military installations and breaking statues of national heroes. Emphasizing the need for joint efforts, he said that we have to strengthen the country together.
