The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has entertained the idea of touring New Zealand for a white-ball series against the hosts after the conclusion of the Australia tour in 2024, JEE News reported on Sunday, citing sources.

The proposal was made by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) according to which the proposed series could consist of five T20Is or three ODIs.

Sources say that the cricket boards of the two countries are in talks to finalize the schedule of the series.

The series between Pakistan and New Zealand could start in the second week of January as the latter have a free window before the home series against South Africa in February.

New Zealand has offered to play the series after the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour of Australia in January 2024. It should be noted that the three-match Test series will end on January 7.

The Man in Green last visited New Zealand for the tri-series between the national team, the hosts and Bangladesh before the T20 World Cup in October last year.

Under the leadership of Babar Azam, the team won the tri-series by defeating New Zealand by five wickets in the deciding match.

Since then, the Kiwis have visited Pakistan twice, the first for the Test and ODI series starting in late December 2021, and the second for the T20 and ODI series in April.

The two-match Test series in December was drawn while the tourists won the ODI 2-1.

While the five-match T20I series was tied 2-2 this year as Rawalpindi lost a match, the hosts claimed a 4-1 victory in the ODI series last month.
