Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup weren’t looking for love but found an unlikely connection together after meeting on the set of Netflix’s psychological thriller, Gypsy.
The couple formed a strong foundation that eventually led to their marriage. The King Kong star, 54, took to Instagram on Saturday, June 10, 2023 to share that she’s “engaged” to the morning show actor, 54.
The news comes a day after they sparked wedding rumors, when they were spotted wearing matching rings as they returned to their New York City apartment.
The newlyweds’ romance comes a year after the Mulholland Drive star and Liev Schreiber ended their relationship after 11 years together.
The couple, who have two children Sasha, 15, and Kai, 14, announced their separation in 2016 in a statement. However, the exes are on good terms as they continue to co-parent their two children.
Watts told JEE News, “Liev and I are on great terms and we’re trying to do our best for the kids, and we hope to continue that way. They [a] A wonderful father, a wonderful, wonderful man, and we still want the best for each other.
Crudup, for his part, shares a son with ex Mary-Louise Parker. The Almost Famous actor previously made headlines when he ditched Parker when she was six months pregnant for Claire Danes in 2003.
Watts and Crudup then began filming the Netflix series Gypsy in June 2017, in which they both play on-screen husband and wife.
A month after sparking romance rumors between the two, an insider confirmed to Us Weekly that they are in a real-life relationship. “Naomi and Billy are dating, but in the early stages. They’re very deep into each other.”
The couple kept a low profile with their romance until about five years later.
They made their first public appearance as a couple when they were seen holding hands as they left the Vogue BAFTAs after-party in London, but finally made their red carpet debut at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February 2022.
That year, the couple kept their wedding plans a secret. In fact, during an appearance on the Today show in April, Watts deflected questions about the massive sparkler on her left ring finger.
Now, the couple has made it official as they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony.
Watts looked stunning in an Oscar de la Renta sweetheart water lily guipure dress, which she carried with a bouquet of white flowers.
Meanwhile, Crudup wore a navy blue suit, a white button-up shirt and a silver ring on his left hand.
