Chairman NAB said that NAB has made direct recovery of 54 billion rupees and indirect recovery of 200 billion rupees, whereas during the last 15 to 20 years, direct recovery of about 100 billion rupees was possible by NAB. He said that in the past, attempts were made to politicize NAB by using it as a tool of political engineering, due to which NAB faced severe criticism, but now for its restoration, irregularities in the bureau or Reforms are being introduced to overcome the problems. He said that NAB has done a great job to improve the corruption index of the country at the global level, however, during the last few years, the international corruption index has shown the decrease in the position of Pakistan in anti-corruption efforts and parameters. Earlier, Chairman NAB distributed checks among the victims of four housing societies. IGP Dr Usman Anwar was also present. 3 billion 60 crore rupees were handed over to 11 thousand 880 victims as the first installment in Eden housing scandal. In the Homeland Real Estate and Builders case, NAB Lahore recovered Rs 39.6 million from the accused, of which Rs 290 million was returned to 67 victims.
In the Rahman City case, 124 registrations worth Rs 112 million were given to the victims while Rs 33.3 million were handed over to the land owners. In the Punjab Highway Department case, NAB Lahore recovered Rs 43.2 million from the accused. However, NAB Lahore gave the final check of 80 lakh rupees to Chief Secretary Punjab after receiving the entire amount.
