ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was re-elected as PML-N president on Friday, said that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif is the fourth-time prime minister after returning home to lead the country to prosperity.
The Central General Council of PMLN in a meeting here elected Shehbaz as party president for another four years in the intra-party elections. After his re-election, Shahbaz said that he would hand over the PMLN presidency to Nawaz Sharif when he returns home.
Nawaz Sharif presided over the online meeting. Former Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yusuf conducted the elections as the Chief Election Commissioner. Maryam Nawaz PMLN Chief Organizer and Senior Vice President, Ahsan Iqbal Secretary General, Ishaq Dar Finance Secretary and Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb elected Information Secretary.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif was the architect of modern Pakistan who during his rule eliminated energy shortage and laid roads, built infrastructure and developed agriculture, industry and other important sectors of the economy. He reminded that Nawaz Sharif had a comprehensive policy on Kashmir and he forcefully raised the issue of Kashmir at international forums including the United Nations. Every Pakistani is ready to make sacrifices for the freedom of Kashmir and there will be no compromise on the rights of Kashmiris.
He said that Dar is working hard to get the economy out of trouble. There is no place in the party for those who unduly criticize Dar. He reiterated that the government has fulfilled all the conditions of the International Monetary Fund to meet the financial needs of the country.
He said that we spent our political capital on the state at a time when inflation was high and international commodity prices were on the rise. 17% increase in interest and pension. The Pakistani nation is brave and will defeat the current challenges. He said his government had signed an agreement to import gas with Azerbaijan and bought oil from Russia. He criticized Imran Khan for spreading lies and misleading people for his nefarious purposes.
Maryam Nawaz said that PMLN believes in serving the people, development and PMLN have become synonymous.
Maryam Aurangzeb presented the resolution paying tribute to the bravery and patriotism of Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif always prioritized national interests. He appreciated Shahbaz Sharif’s efforts to bring political and economic stability to the country.
Maryam Nawaz said that in the meeting, the full support of the Kashmiri brothers was expressed for the solution of the Kashmir issue according to the resolutions of the United Nations. He said that the meeting condemned the violent incidents of May 9 and demanded that the criminals involved in these acts be brought to book.
