Chakwal: 12 people, including women and children, were killed and 24 injured when a passenger bus overturned near Kallar Kahar on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway.
According to the Motorway Police, the passenger bus was going from Rawalpindi to Lahore when it met with an accident near Kaler Kahar Salt Range. Police say that according to initial reports, the accident occurred due to brake failure.
According to JEE News, the police and rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies and injured to the hospital.
The police said that three women and two children were among the dead.
The spokesperson of NHMP says that two lanes of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway have been closed due to the accident while the third has been opened for traffic.
DIG Motorway Police Muhammad Yusuf Malik and Sector Commander supervised the rescue operations. Later, the DIG visited Chakwal Trauma Center and visited the injured.
