PESHAWAR: The caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday unveiled a budget of Rs 462.426 billion for the four months from July 1 to October 31, 2023, which includes Rs 350.041 billion for current expenditure and Rs 112.385 billion for development funds.

Unveiling the statement of expenditure in the presence of cabinet colleagues and executive secretaries in a crowded press conference, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance Bakhtullah Khan said that according to Article 126 of the Constitution, the caretaker government has the authority to issue details of expenditure. Moreover, out of the total 112.385 billion rupees in development funds, 92.122 billion rupees have been allocated for the settled areas of the province and 20.263 billion rupees for the merged districts.

The three-page expenditure statement, which was distributed to media persons, stated that the travel allowance of all provincial government employees would be increased by 50 percent and the conveyance allowance of disabled provincial government employees would be increased by 100 percent. will percent.

Orderly allowance of employees will be increased from Rs 14000 to Rs 25000 per month.

The deputation allowance of the employees will be increased by 50% and the Secretariat Performance Allowance will be increased by 100%.

The expenditure statement made special mention of the austerity measures adopted by the caretaker government.

A total ban on new recruitment, including recruitment of army personnel, has been imposed till the election of the elected government.

A ban has also been imposed on creation of new posts except for complete development projects.

A ban has been imposed on the purchase of vehicles other than ambulances, earth moving machinery, fire trucks, tractors, trucks, buses, passenger vans, prisoner vans, motorcycles, recovery and rescue vehicles and lifeboats.

Provincial funds have been banned from participating in overseas events.

A ban has also been imposed on holding events in five-star hotels and receiving treatment abroad with government funds.

Bakhtullah Khan said that the caretaker government is not authorized to take any steps regarding revenue.
