ISLAMABAD: In two weeks, Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) is likely to submit a report to the government on the quality, production and commercial viability of Russian crude oil URL – which is heavy. – JEE News reported with reference to the Petroleum Division. senior official.

PRL, which is in the process of refining Russian crude oil, produces (petrol, diesel, FO and light diesel oil production, in percentage terms), quality, and — more importantly — the petroleum division. The report will be submitted. – After refining cost and refinery margin its viability for Pakistan economy is worked out.

This report will help the relevant government authorities to decide whether to enter into a GtG import agreement with Russia.

Local refineries currently use crude from Saudi Aramco and ADNOC to produce motor spirit (petrol) at an average of 25-30 percent and furnace oil at 45 percent.

However, half of the 100,000 tonnes of Russian crude will be exported as furnace oil at 75 percent of the crude price with a loss of 25 percent because URL crude is a heavier crude, and 50 percent as furnace oil, the official said. will be prepared.

“Pakistani refineries, which mostly consume crude oil from Saudi Aramco and ADNOC, are already facing shortage of furnace oil in their stocks and export furnace oil at a loss of 25 percent.”

Deep conversion refineries in Dubai produce finished products from furnace oil, which is exported by Pakistan refineries at 25%.

PRL – an old refinery – is processing Russian crude oil, the official said.

Although heavy Russian crude oil is a concessional fuel, PRL will produce 50% of it into furnace oil, meaning a 50,000 tonne vessel will be exported as furnace oil as its utility in Pakistan is not valid.

Last Sunday, PRL exported only 25,000 barrels of furnace oil of the crude oil it normally uses from Saudi Aramco and ADNOC.

However, due to gas crisis in the country and rise in temperature, the demand for electricity has increased and the concerned authorities have also started using local furnace oil for power generation.

The official revealed that PRL could take two months to refine 100,000 tonnes of Russian crude as it first blends 25-30% of Russian URL with 70-75% of Saudi Aramco’s crude. And then it cleans the mixed crude oil.

The first cargo carrying 45,000 tonnes of Russian crude oil arrived at Karachi Port Trust on June 11, an official of the Petroleum Division said. Now the same shipment with 55,000 tonnes will arrive again on June 29 – previously scheduled for June 20.

The remaining Russian crude oil inflows have been readjusted due to storage constraints. And on top of that, a ship carrying 70,000 tonnes of crude oil from Saudi Aramco is scheduled to arrive on June 25 for Pakistan Refinery Limited, the official said.

The main vessel carrying 100,000 tonnes of URL crude from Russia arrived in Oman on June 7. From there, a small vessel was arranged to carry the crude oil in two rounds.
