LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that he will not betray the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN).
According to JEE News, Zardari made these remarks against the backdrop of reports circulating on social media that the People’s Party was “not happy” with the policies of the coalition government and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) ahead of the upcoming elections. Will separate. .
Addressing a press conference along with the leader of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTAMA) Gohar Ejaz, the former president said that neither I have cheated anyone nor will I cheat the PMLN.
Emphasizing the need for joint efforts for the country’s “better future”, the PPP leader urged all political parties to sign the Charter of Economy.
He said that I am ready to sign the Charter of Economy. “It is the need of the hour.”
The former president said that we should work together for the development of the country.
Referring to the ruined economy of the cash-strapped country, Zardari said that if Pakistan is affected, everyone will suffer. The country needs trade opportunities rather than aid. “We should promote trade to improve [the country’s] economy.” The former president said that for a better future of the country, people invest abroad because of insecurity. “I also asked the PTI chairman to sign the Charter of Economy in Parliament,” he recalled. In response to a question, the PPP leader said that work on the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline would be started soon. Addressing the press conference, Zardari added that “the country will progress if the ministers of textiles and finance are from you.” He urged the businessmen to come forward and be part of the government.
Talking about his roadmap for the country’s prosperity, Zardari proposed to export $2 billion worth of sugar and strengthen the industry. He also invited them to set up industries in Sindh. He said that his dream of 100 billion dollar exports will be fulfilled with the help of textile industry. Textile traders should lead the textile and finance ministries to take the country forward. By opening trade with Iran, Pakistan will be able to get cheap gas as well as LNG. He said that the People’s Party government will ensure the completion of the gas pipeline from Iran in addition to supporting border trade.
He assured that I will bring gas from Iran for Pakistan’s textile industry to reduce its input cost. He said he had advocated trade, not aid, in his talks with the EU in 2013. He said that Bangladesh has the benefit of GSP Plus due to its backward status. He said that ninety percent of Indian textile products get the Made in Bangladesh tag and are sent to Europe. Pakistani businessmen should learn to sell their products in international markets with the right mix.
Zardari invited the textile industry to invest in the cotton crop in Jhal Magsi area of Sindh near Balochistan. He said that there is a need to work on seed quality in the country as well as to ensure fair price for cotton farmers.
In his address, Gohar Ejaz said that the potential of textile exports is not less than 25 billion dollars based on the existing capacity. He detailed the increase in textile exports to $50 billion. He said that due to non-availability of Regional Competitive Energy Tariff (RCET) exports and de-industrialization in Punjab have declined. He also demanded the restoration of SRO 1125.
Federal Minister for Industries and Production Syed Murtaza Mahmood and Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue Chairman Salim Mandviwala were also present on this occasion.
