Multan/Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday criticized Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and demanded that the finance czar resign immediately.
While holding a press conference in Multan, the former foreign minister criticized the budget for fiscal year 24. Additional taxes of 215 billion rupees have been levied. The nation is already burdened with taxes, and the fiscal bill is being revised.
“Despite the burden of existing taxes, more were levied,” he said, reported JEE News.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the budget presented to the nation is something else, while the approved budget will be completely different. Qureshi also criticized the government’s performance. “Industries are currently in crisis. About 40% of textile industries have closed and more are closing down. Large-scale manufacturing output is affected,” he said. He added that textiles and agriculture. The state of industries is “poor” and the country’s economy is shrinking.
Accusing the government of creating a false narrative, the former foreign minister said: “The rulers cannot hide the facts. The agriculture sector is in crisis. Fertilizer was running out and 5 per cent duty was imposed on it.
He further said that there is widespread load shedding across the country. He demanded that this responsibility should be assigned to another finance minister.
The PTI leader further said that considering the country’s economy and situation, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not have confidence in Dar.
During the presser, Qureshi also took issue with the government’s failure to show responsibility following the joint statement by the US and India earlier this week. The statement emphasized the need for Pakistan to take action against extremist groups based in Pakistan.
The PTI leader expressed shock at the indifference shown by the country’s authorities in this matter. He said that the Foreign Minister did not give any response to the statement issued by the American President and the Indian Prime Minister, there is no mention of the oppression of Kashmiris in the joint statement.
“There is no comment on the treatment of minorities in India,” Qureshi said, adding that everyone is silent on what is happening to Muslims in India.
Qureshi said that the Line of Control (LoC) was violated and two civilians were killed yesterday.
Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said on Sunday that it is strange that the destroyers of the national economy are now crying over the sign of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a statement, the Minister of State said that on May 9, they burnt the country, attacked military and private property, desecrated the memorials of martyrs and now they are preparing to harm the economic interests of the country again. He said that arsonists, conspirators and anti-nationals have once again started crying after hearing the news of the restoration of the agreement with the IMF.
He said that the foreign agents who laid economic mines and almost bankrupted the country and deprived the people of their livelihood are today demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. Shameless criminals who pushed inflation are demanding resignation from Ishaq Dar. which had stabilized the economy.
Maryam Nawaz said that the previous government signed the IMF agreement on strict terms, violated it and then suspended the agreement, then conspired against the country and the agreement. Those who were crying over the deal should be asked why they signed the deal with the IMF. He said that it is ironic that those who were clamoring for the agreement signed the agreement with the IMF. “Not only did they violate the agreement and suspend it, but they conspired to default the country,” he added.
The Federal Minister said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stabilized the country’s economy during his regime, but “foreign agents” shook the foundations of the economy and the country had to resort to the IMF. He said that Nawaz Sharif is the only leader whose government completed the IMF program and put the country on the path of development.
Taking a jibe at Imran Khan, he said that the person who claimed that he would prefer to die than ask for help from the IMF, why did he knock on the door of the IMF?
