ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will attend the 23rd session of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) to be held on July 4, 2023 in video conference format. The Prime Minister of India in his capacity as the current Chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” the Foreign Office said.
Earlier in May, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto had traveled to Goa to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
“At the upcoming CHS, the SCO’s highest forum, leaders will deliberate on key global and regional issues and outline the future direction of cooperation among SCO member states. This year, new members of the SCO-CHS organization will will also welcome Iran as an official,” the Foreign Office said.
The FO pointed out that the Prime Minister’s participation in the CHS reflects the high importance Pakistan attaches to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an important forum for regional security and prosperity and enhanced ties with the region.
