Governor State Bank unveiled a commemorative note of Rs 75 on completion of 75 years of State Bank

Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmed unveiled a commemorative bank note to mark 75 years of the State Bank of Pakistan at a function held at the SBP Museum on Tuesday.

The commemorative Rs 75 banknote is predominantly blue in color which has been chosen to convey a sense of stability associated with the central bank, a statement issued here said. A stylized sketch is to be included. Renowned calligrapher and artist, Syed Sadeqin Ahmed Naqvi, who shares space with the Quaid’s traditional portrait on the front of the banknote.

The reverse side of the banknote is dedicated to SBP’s ‘Banking on Equality’ campaign, represented by the image of Ms. Fatima Jinnah on the banknote. Conversely, it also highlights Pakistan’s national commitment to tackling climate change through alternative and sustainable energy sources, including wind turbines and solar panels.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of the Central Bank highlighted the achievements of the State Bank, focusing particularly on the progress and monitoring of its engagement with commercial banks.

He also highlighted the State Bank’s initiatives in recent years, including micropayment gateway Rast, Roshan digital accounts for overseas Pakistanis, encouraging and facilitating commercial banks to provide digital banking solutions, and various segments. Special mention was made of the development of comprehensive policies for Society including women, youth and farmers.

The governor also spoke about the State Bank’s strategic plan ‘Vision 2028’ and its key areas, including bringing inflation to the target level in the medium term, promoting fairness in the banking system, promoting gender inclusion policies. Giving, encouraging green financing, providing an enabling environment. environment for Shariah-compliant banking, and to transform the State Bank into a high-tech, people-centric institution, as directed by the Federal Shariah Court.

He hoped that the entire banking industry would work together with the State Bank to achieve the goals. He also appreciated the hard work put into the commemorative banknotes of the State Bank, and congratulated the team members for the successful launch of the banknotes.

Addressing the event, State Bank Deputy Governor Seema Kamil spoke about the positive outcomes of women’s participation in the financial sector and its impact on the quality of financial decisions in society.

Recognizing the gender gap in financial inclusion, he highlighted the initiatives taken by the State Bank in collaboration with commercial banks to address this gap. He lauded the results of the SBP-led Equality Policy on Banking in 2021 and hoped that the future would witness more equal participation of the society in all spheres of life.

Executive Director Finance and Risk Management, Mohammad Haroon Rasheed, spoke about the evolution of banknote design from printing to printing, and explained the philosophy behind the color and design elements of the banknote. Legality highlighted.

Director Finance, Qadir Bakhsh spoke about the history behind the establishment of State Bank, the challenges faced by State Bank after its establishment and gave special mention to those who contributed to establishing State Bank as a mature central bank. Played an important role.

Earlier, guests were shown a video of the commemorative note to give them an overview of the banknote’s design elements and security features.
