Soon after the news of Alamgir Khan Tareen’s death broke on Thursday, condolence started pouring in on Twitter, with the cricketing fraternity expressing their grief over the unfortunate incident.
In a shocking incident, 63-year-old Alamgir, owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, allegedly committed suicide, police and family confirmed.
The franchise released a statement mourning the businessman’s tragic death.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing away of our beloved team owner Alamgir Khan Tareen. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Tareen’s family. We request you all to extend our condolences to his family. Respect privacy. May his soul rest in peace. Eternal peace,” Multan Sultan said.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi has expressed deep sorrow over Alamgir’s death. He offered his condolences to the family, friends and team Multan Sultans of the deceased.

Moreover, Lahore Qalandars also grieved Alamgir’s death, saying that the management was “shocked and saddened” to hear about it.

Earlier, well-known cricket presenter Zainab Abbas, former cricketer Rashid Latif, middle-order batsman Sahib Maqsood and others also expressed shock and grief over the tragic death.

Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Atif Rana said that he could not believe his ears after hearing the news of Alamgir Tareen.
“It was a memorable journey with Alamgir Tarin in the PSL. Alamgir Tarin was a decent human being and a good teammate,” Rana added.
According to the police, Alamgir, the brother of Isthakam Pakistan Party (IPP) chairman Jahangir Khan Tareen, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at his residence in Gulberg area of Lahore.
Reports of alleged suicide were later confirmed by Jahangir.
