Arshad Warsi recently shared his first meeting with the legendary Jaya Bachchan.
Arshad revealed that he first met her for his debut film and was extremely nervous about her.
Speaking to Humans of Bombay, he recalled that director Joy Augustine had offered the Munna Bhai MBBS actor that he was making for Amitabh Bachchan’s production company.
The director asked the actor to send his pictures to the production.
Arshad told him: ‘Dude I can’t act, don’t do this to me!’ You meet people who come here to film and they don’t make it, and they all know it!
“It’s like they’re on the streets and people are going ‘The poor guy came from his village to be a hero, he didn’t make it. Now look at him traveling on the bus. I didn’t want to be that guy!’
The jolly LLB actor then got a call from Jaya asking to meet her.
Arshad expressed his feelings. He said: “I thought she was going to fire me! I thought, ‘Ham Jaya Bachchan, let’s get fired by her, why not, Amitabh Bachchan’s wife! She took two-four galia achi from me. Gee, this will be a story of my life.
“So I left thinking I was going to get kicked out, but she kept asking me if I spoke Hindi, and I kept saying yes I did, in English, I was so nervous. Then she said, ‘You’re filming.’ I’m dead! I said now it’s over.
Arshad Warsi also shared that he asked Jaya Bachchan what made him choose her for the film. According to JEE News, she responded by saying that out of the 36 pictures she sent, all of them had different expressions.
