A Google Doodle on Wednesday featured South Asia’s most popular street food ‘panipuri’, popularly known as ‘golgappe’ in Pakistan.
Google Doodle is a variation on the global search engine’s logo to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and celebrities’ lives, as well as traditions with cute and fun digital art and animation.
The beautiful animation that has taken over Google’s logo today is a unique and interactive game in which users are tasked with helping a street vendor complete pani puri orders.
This art is an animation of a roadside delicacy stall with a vendor and a customer at each end. In the center of the animation is a play button, which when clicked prompts a pop-up with a brief description and options for the game mode.
The two options include ‘Timed’ and ‘Relaxed’ modes.
In both methods, consumers should choose different flavors and quantities of golgupas according to each consumer’s preference.
In particular, the game is designed like many other kitchen and cooking themed games available on the Google Play Store.
What is Pani Puri?
Pani Puri or Golgappe is a popular street food made from a crispy shell filled with potato, gram, spices or chilies served with flavored water. The main ingredient for water is tamarind pulp.
“And there’s a pani puri variety for everyone’s taste buds,” says the Google Doodle’s art description.
There are many different types of fillings for everyone’s unique palette, but golgape has to be eaten quickly and in one bite, or it will become soggy after being dipped in water.
Today’s doodle is to recognize Indore Zaika and Dank Bhaskar, an Indian restaurant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for serving the most panipuri flavors in 2019 by offering 51 options under the guidance of Master Chef Neha Shah. Achieved world record.
