ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host the Asia Cup cricket matches in Lahore and Multan mainly to avoid travel and logistical problems with such a short international schedule, JEE News reported on Tuesday.
An informed source within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told JEE News that two venues had been selected to host four matches, with Multan likely to get a share.
He said that Multan will get some part from Lahore which will be the center of Pakistan.
Sources within the board said that since the decision was taken by the previous PCB administration, it is a difficult task at the moment.
The official schedule of the Asia Cup is expected to be announced in the next few days. In another move, it is planned that spectators visiting Sri Lanka for the remainder of the Asia Cup will be asked to buy tickets in dollars.
“We are also trying to develop a policy that will require spectators to buy tickets in dollars in Sri Lanka. A good number of spectators from the sub-continent and other parts of the world will travel to Sri Lanka to watch. Asia Cup where Pakistan is expected to face India at least twice.
“If the two arch-rivals reach the final, it will be the third time that the two teams will face each other. A large number of Indian and Pakistani fans are expected to turn up for these matches,” said the source.
Meanwhile, the PCB official also expressed happiness over the ICC’s revenue adjustment, where Pakistan will get the best ever share – the fourth largest after India, Australia and England.
As per its constitutional right, the PCB has continuously sought additional information over the past few weeks and at ICC meetings to better understand the rationale behind the allocation of weightage for each standard and distribution calculation. can be understood.
In the absence of all relevant information, data and formula, PCB felt that such an important decision should not be taken in haste. The PCB therefore suggested that the item be deferred to the next meeting of the ICC.
