Deepika Padukone, whose upcoming film Project K is set to debut at the San Diego Comic-Con, has decided to skip the event amid the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strike.
The team of Project K was to attend the event to launch the teaser and title of the film. According to reports, the lead stars Prabhas and Rana Daggubati have reached the US to attend Comic-Con.
However, Deepika, who is also a member of SAG-AFTRA, has skipped the event due to the actors’ and writers’ strike.
In May 2023, Hollywood actors and writers began a protest against the SAG Federation to fight for labor laws.
Last week, many actors announced a strike after failing to reach an agreement with the federation to sign new contracts with major studios and streamers.
Respecting the strike, the Pathan actress has also withdrawn from the main event of her big sci-fi film.
Project K is directed by Nag Ashwin. It stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. According to JEE News, the film is slated to release on 12 January 2024.
