China will stand by Pakistan no matter how international scenario changes: President Xi Jinping

Beijing: President Xi Jinping has reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan, saying that “no matter what happens in the international scenario, China will always stand firmly with Pakistan”.

He made these remarks in a felicitation message on the occasion of CPEC decade celebrations held in Islamabad on Monday, which was also attended by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng – who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan.

Speaking about bilateral relations, President Xi stressed that the two countries will continue to improve overall planning and expand and deepen cooperation.

Pointing out that CPEC is an important project of Belt and Road cooperation, Xi said that China will work with Pakistan to further build CPEC into a model project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. will work.

He added that both countries will work towards high quality, sustainable and livelihood enhancing outcomes.

“Since its inception in 2013, China and Pakistan have been advancing the CPEC under the principles of extensive consultation, joint partnership and shared benefits, and have achieved many initial harvests,” he added.

He said that it has created a new impetus in the economic and social development of Pakistan and laid a good foundation for regional connectivity and integration, adding that it is a clear proof of the everlasting friendship between China and Pakistan. Xi added that China and Pakistan will continue to work together to advance iron-clad friendship, integrate development and security, promote higher standards, broader scope and deeper cooperation, and Will move forward for solidarity. To take the Climate Strategic Cooperation Partnership to new heights, to contribute even more to peace and prosperity in both countries and the wider region.

Earlier today, the two countries signed six agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reforms Commission signed the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Joint Cooperation Committee document.

The second document dealt with the establishment of a mechanism for the exchange of experts within the framework of CPEC.

The third document was signed by Secretary Ministry of National Food Security Zafar Hassan and Chinese Charge d’Affaires Peng Chunxu to export dried chillies from Pakistan to China.

National Highway Authority Member Planning Asim Amin and Chenxu signed the fourth document related to the rescheduling of the Feasibility Study of the Karakoram Highway Phase II project.

The two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Industrial Workers Exchange Program through diplomatic channels. The parties also agreed to promote the strategic ML-1 project.
