Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has completed his transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad and has signed a three-year contract with the club.

The 29-year-old’s move to the United was finalized after the club made a £40million bid, which resulted in him being left out of Liverpool’s recent training camps in Germany and Singapore.

Fabinho, who represented Liverpool for five years, thanked the club and its fans and said he was leaving his “home” with a happy heart.

Fabinho’s departure marks the latest high-profile signing from Al-Tahid in their summer recruitment drive for the Saudi Pro League. The club has signed notable players such as Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Jota, bolstering their squad under former Wolves and Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

During his time at Liverpool, Fabinho played a key role in the team’s success, contributing to their victories in various competitions including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. Liverpool have expressed their gratitude for Fabinho’s contribution to the club’s success over the past five years.

The departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, who moved to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq, mark a major change in Liverpool’s midfield this summer. James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita have also left after their contracts expired. Along with changes to their midfield, Liverpool have appointed Virgil van Dijk as the new captain and Trent Alexander-Arnold as vice-captain.

As Fabinho begins a new chapter in his career with Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, Liverpool face a period of change as they continue to reshape their squad and leadership. These moves reflect the competitive nature of football’s transfer market and the Saudi Pro League’s desire to attract top players from around the world.
