Koi Mil Gaya, one of Hrithik Roshan’s most popular films, has completed 20 years. On this special occasion, the film is going to re-release in India on August 4.
The exhibitors, PVR Inox and director Rakesh Roshan, will jointly release Koi Mil Gaya in 30 cities across India to celebrate its 20 years.
In a chat with JEE News, Rakesh expressed his excitement over the project and also revealed the motive behind re-releasing his son’s film in theatres.
“The team at PVR Inox reached out to us to celebrate 20 years of Koi Mil Gaya. I was delighted to know about their plans and we jointly released the film on August 4 across 30 cities across India. Decided to re-release.”
“The idea is to revive the nostalgia of the film and re-release it in PVR Inox cinemas. We hope the re-release marks a family outing with parents taking their kids to cinema halls and the new generation. will introduce them to magic. Parents reminisce about watching a movie from 20 years ago.”
The Krrish director added: “We set out to make Koi Mil Gaya as a children’s film that will be enjoyed by children and will also entertain their families.”
“It was a risk I was taking as a filmmaker to introduce a science fiction film with an alien, but the audience’s response was my greatest reward. It was satisfying and a filmmaker’s dream. It strengthened my belief to keep making films on different genres, stories and films. Keep experimenting.”
Koi Mil Gaya was a science fiction film starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Rekha, Johnny Lever, Prem Chopra, Rajat Bedi and others. The plot line of the film revolves around a mentally challenged boy named Rohit who befriends a stranger.
