Ranveer Singh finally spoke about his childhood dream of carrying Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy forward with Don 3.
The Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani star said that he hopes to make the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi cinema proud with his portrayal of the iconic Don character in the upcoming installment of the film.
Taking to Instagram, the actor mimicked Don alongside a series of childhood photos, writing, “Gosh! I’ve been dreaming of doing this for a very, very long time!”
“I fell in love with movies as a child, and we, like everyone else, watched and worshiped Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan – the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi cinema,” he added. .
“I dreamed of growing up to be like him. That’s why I wanted to be an actor and a ‘Hindi film hero’. His impact and influence on my life cannot be overstated.”
“He has shaped the person and actor that I am. Carrying on his legacy is the realization of my childhood dream,” he wrote.
He noted how “great a responsibility” it is to be a part of the Don “family” as he asked his fans to give him a chance to prove his mettle as an actor.
Singh wrote, “I hope the audience will give me a chance and shower me with love, the way they have for so many characters over the years.”
He thanked the film’s producers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, saying, “Thanks to Farhan and Ritesh for entrusting me with this prestigious mantle and believing in me.”
“I hope I can fulfill your faith and trust,” he added. “My two supernovas, Big B and SRK, I hope I make you proud.”
Before signing off, Singh wrote, “And my dear listeners, as always, I promise you… that I will do my best to entertain you… I and as… ‘ Don’. Thank you for your love.”
Leading Lady of Ranveer Singh in ‘Don 3’:Â
For the leading lady role opposite Singh in the upcoming film, it was reported by Pink Villa that Akhtar is looking to rope in Kiara Advani for the blockbuster hit.
Fueling speculations, the Satyaprem Katha actor was recently seen in Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment with an insider confirming that Advani has given the director a “verbal nod”.
“Farhan Akhtar has narrated the basic plotline of Don 3 to Kiara, and he loves it,” said the insider. “Kiara has given her verbal approval.”
“She is excited to be a part of the sensational world of rebooted Don with Ranveer Singh, who she has always dreamed of working with,” said the source.
The insider continued: “However, she will not be playing the role of Roma, which was essayed by Priyanka Chopra in Shah Rukh Khan’s previous films.”
“The Dawn franchise has been given a fresh makeover and will feature new characters. This time there will be no Roma, but yes, Kiara’s character will have negative shades.”
‘Don 3’ Release Date:
According to an official statement issued by Akhtar, the film starring Singh as the new don in the city is slated to release in 2015.
