The company’s vice president of games, Mike Verdo, wrote in a blog post on Monday that Netflix will initially test games on select TVs and computers to make the games playable on more devices.
The company is launching a limited beta test for a small group of members in Canada and the United Kingdom on select TVs starting Monday, and on PCs and Macs via Netflix.com on supported browsers over the next few weeks.
The streaming platform started pushing the gaming experience by launching Netflix Games on mobiles in November 2021. So far, the company’s titles are only available on Apple’s iOS and Alphabet’s Android.
“Oxenfree,” a Netflix game studio, and “Molehew’s Mining Adventure,” a mini-mining arcade game from Night School Studios, will be part of the initial testing.
Users can play games on TV using their phones, and those on PCs and Macs can play on Netflix.com with a keyboard and mouse.
“By making the games available on more devices, we hope to make it even easier for our members around the world to play the games,” Verdu said.
Games on TV will work on select devices from early partners Amazon Fire TV streaming media players, Google TV, Chromecast and Roku devices, Netflix said.
In March, the company said it had a slate of 40 more game content later this year and 70 in development with its partners, adding to the 16 currently developed by its in-house game studios. There will be other games.
